The Tigrayan Emergency Mutual Relief (EDER) in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) is a non-profit, community-based organization established to support Tigrayan-Canadians during times of need. Our work is grounded in mutual aid, cultural values, solidarity, and compassion.
Provide emotional, social, and financial support to members during times of death and bereavement
Assist with funeral arrangements and coordination when needed
Offer financial assistance to bereaved members in accordance with EDER bylaws
Provide condolence support for the loss of close family members
Ensure members and families are not left alone during difficult times
Provide financial assistance to members upon the death of a member or eligible family member
Support families during mourning periods with essential arrangements and coordination
Deliver benefits fairly and transparently based on established bylaws
Support members experiencing stress, trauma, grief, or mental health challenges
Promote emotional well-being and prevent isolation within the community
Foster a sense of belonging, unity, and mutual care
Connect members with healthcare and support services when possible
Support newcomers in adjusting to life in Canada
Assist members with:
Job search guidance and information
Accessing healthcare and mental health resources
Improving English language skills
Navigating legal and settlement-related challenges (when possible)
